Mass casualty incidents (MCIs) are events that overwhelm the healthcare system due to the number and severity of injuries. Nurses play a critical role in responding to MCIs, requiring adequate preparedness to manage such emergencies effectively. Assessing the readiness of nurses at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) in Zaria is essential to ensure optimal response during MCIs.
Despite the increasing occurrence of MCIs globally, there is limited information regarding the preparedness of nurses at ABUTH to handle such events. Evaluating their readiness is crucial for identifying gaps and implementing necessary training programs.
This study focuses on nurses employed at ABUTH, assessing their preparedness for MCIs. It examines factors influencing readiness and evaluates existing training programs. Limitations may include self-reported data, which could be subject to bias, and the study's confinement to a single institution, affecting the generalizability of the findings.
